Cut Food Costs By Eating Sandwiches
If you’re like most people I know, you eat out for lunch and dinner. Even if you eat somewhere cheap, you’re still most likely going to spend anywhere from $5-$8 for fast food or a lower-priced entree at a restaurant. That’s $50-$80 a week for lunch and dinner, and if you go out for a nice meal like steak or sushi you can add a lot more to that total. If you fall within the $5-$8 a meal spending bracket, you can save yourself $31-$61 in food costs in just one week by eating sandwiches for lunch and dinner.
Here’s how it breaks down - $9 for a pound of lunch meat, $4 for a half pound of cheese, $4 for a nice loaf of bread, and $2 for a jar of mayonnaise. A grand total of $19 for a week’s worth of sandwiches! Add just a few dollars more if you like to dress up your sandwiches with lettuce and tomato. Mix it up with tuna, which is also really cheap, or a 7-ounce box of organic lettuce which runs about $3.99 and makes about 4 large salads. Healthy freezer meals are also a good option - they’re cheap and you can be lazier and not do dishes. So if you know you need to save a couple hundred dollars in a month, cut your food costs by making yourself sandwiches at home and work.

You can save even more by sticking to a vegetarian diet on most days. Grilled avocado, cheese, and tomato sandwiches…mmmmm & less sodium too
